MMMMM----- Recipe via Meal-Master (tm) v8.05
 
      Title: Pealing Bells
 Categories: 
      Yield: 5 Servings
 
      2 c  Flour
  1 1/2 ts Baking powder
      6 tb Butter
    1/3 c  Shortening
    3/4 c  Sugar
      1    Egg
      1 tb Milk
      1 ts Grated orange peel
      1 ts Vanilla
     25    Maraschino cherries; halved
           .. and well drained
 
  Combine flour and baking powder. In large mixing
  bowl, beat butter and shortening until butter is
  softened. add sugar and beat until fluffy. Add
  egg, milk, orange peel, and vanilla and beat well.
  Add flour mixture and beat till well mixed. Cover
  and chill about 30 minutes or till easy to handle.
  Shape into 2 8" rolls. Wrap and chill for several
  hours or overnight.
  
  Cut into 1/4" slices. Place on ungreased cookie
  sheets. Place a cherry on the bottom half of each
  slice for clapper bell. Fold in sides of slice,
  overlapping at top and slightly covering cherry.
  Pinch in sides to resemble bell shape.
  
  Bake in a 350° oven for 12-14 minutes or till
  done. Remove and cool.
